The Gila Regional Medical Center pharmacy is staffed by a director, two full time pharmacists, three part time pharmacists and five certified pharmacy technicians. Two of the pharmacists and the director hold a doctor’s degree in pharmacy.

 

The GRMC pharmacy utilizes the latest technology in medication dispensing including bar codes and the Pyxis 3500 Medstations. Pharmacy maintains an active interface with the medical staff by having pharmacists work out on the patient care areas monitoring drug therapy and medication dosing. Chemotherapy and non chemo IV solutions are prepared in a certified clean room meeting the strict sterile standards mandated by regulatory agencies.

 

Pharmacists are available to counsel and advise patients on their medication therapy when requested. The GRMC pharmacy is also a training site for pharmacy students from the University of Arizona and University of New Mexico as well as international pharmacy students from the University of Singapore.
