The Gila Regional Medical Center (GRMC) received Quality New Mexico’s 2008 Roadrunner Recognition. Quality New Mexico, the independently founded nonprofit for statewide education, evaluation and recognition based on the Baldrige National Program for Performance Excellence.
GRMC is one of 5 New Mexico organizations and businesses to receive 2008 Roadrunner recognition for demonstrating, through commitment to and implementation of quality principles, significant progress in building sound quality processes.
“Not only did we achieve the award—and we are the smallest hospital in New Mexico to ever do so—in fact we were told that we scored as a ‘very high level Roadrunner’, stated Brian Bentley, GRMC’s Chief Executive Officer.
According to the QNM website, Quality New Mexico administers the New Mexico Quality Awards. The program assesses and recognizes organizations at three levels: Piñon Recognition for commitment, Roadrunner Recognition for progress, and Zia Award for performance excellence.
In 2003, 2006, and 2007, GRMC achieved Piñon recognition. During 2007, GRMC decided to pursue Roadrunner recognition. Jean Remillard, M.D., GRMC’s Chief Medical Office and Chief Quality Officer said, “It’s a great honor to receive this prestigious recognition, which is a reflection on our high-quality staff that made us a QNM success story. The quality of a hospital rests ultimately on the excellence and skill of healthcare professionals, staff and volunteers; the implementation of quality standards; access to appropriate technology; and a bottom line of respect and compassion. The actual experience of a patient is distilled from all of these factors and is the final word on the success or failure of our mission to you. We are excited to be on this journey.”
GRMC’s vision is to lead southwest New Mexico in personalized care with state-of-the-art technology and growing services. Its core values are Excellence, Innovation, Respect, Compassion, Customer-focused, and Integrity. GRMC has over 700 employees.
