Letters from Patients

There are too many of you wonderful care givers at GRMC to thank individually and properly, so I am sending a group hug and a BIG THANK YOU for the excellent care you provided before, during, and after my total hip replacement surgery.

I found the soulful healing environment and cheerful effort you all made on my behalf to be of the highest quality and sincerity. I hope you are all proud of yourself and your excellent hospital! You should be!

With much gratitude!

I wanted to pass this on to you…….

I went through a colonoscopy last Friday. Dr. Williams was my anesthesiologist and Dr. Lente performed the surgery. I explained to both my irrational fear of “going under” and the desire to watch the procedure. Both were very receptive, as was the staff in the ER to make me feel comfortable. Dr. Williams gave me just enough medication so that I was able to comfortably watch about 3/4th of the procedure. The nursing staff moved the monitor to the opposite side of the table so I could watch the procedure comfortably. Dr. Lente answered my questions calmly during the procedure. My trust in them grew out of their receptiveness to my requests and concerns. I was then comfortable knowing that if I needed more medication, I’d be OK under Dr. Williams’ care. What usually is viewed as an “unwanted” procedure, turned out to be a very positive experience. As a caregiver myself, I personally experienced PATIENT-CENTERED CARE!!!

“I was recently a patient in our wonderful facility and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in my care, starting with check-in at the Surgical Center, to pre-op, anesthesiology, surgical unit, post-op, and then inpatient care for 3 days on Pod 1. I appreciated the caring and professional attitudes and the attentiveness of my caregivers in each and every step of the process.

After my discharge, I was attended to at home by our Home Health, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy departments for the first 3 weeks of my recovery, and was treated with the utmost care and respect. When I was well enough to attend outpatient physical therapy at the Wellness Center, I received the same high level of care and treatment. I would be remiss if I failed to include Administration, HR, Dietary, and all of the other administrative caregivers who supported and encouraged me while I was off work. This would be a very long missive if I were to mention the names of every person who I came into contact with throughout my hospital stay and recovery so I will just say “thank you from the bottom of my heart” to all concerned. Having experienced first-hand what a great organization we have makes me very proud to be affiliated with GRMC.”

I do not remember the details of my last visit to GRMC but I have always been pleased with the services received from the personnel. Only the waiting period has not been quite satisfactory but continues to improve. It is quite evident that you are making a sustained effort to provide patient satisfaction in addition to quality care.

Ruth Elaine Gigerich from the administration office played guitar and sang a very sad patient to sleep last evening. Much appreciated by staff and the patient.

I had Lap-Band surgery at Gila Regional on Monday, June 29, 2009. The surgery required that I stay in the hospital until the following morning. During that time, Julie Turner, Ramona Wilson, Andrew Acosta, Fabiola Garcia and Sherry Durham all participated in my post-surgery care. Both my wife (who spent the night in the room with me) and I could not have been more impressed with the quality of these individuals. Each one was professional, caring, responsive and understanding. My experience at Gila Regional on this occasion could not have been better in any way, and it was due mainly to the quality of care provided by these individuals. Please share my thanks with them. Thank you.

My husband had outpatient surgery last week, and I’d like to say that from the pre-op phone call to the post-op follow up, the service was professional and courteous.

A special thank you to Lisa Trewern, Sarah Montoya, Yvonne Maxwell, Dan Zerger, Liz Martin, and Fred Wendler. Everyone did a fantastic job. I’d also like to thank all those people behind the scenes that I didn’t get to come into contact with that makes any surgery for our patients possible. I don’t think it was because I am an employee here, I think it is just they way these people conduct their day to day jobs of caring for people. Not only was I impressed but so was my husband.

It makes the wait and the surgery before and after much easier to get through when people like these are there for the community. Thank you all so much.

For the second time I had a most amazing, heartening experience in the GRMC radiology department. I take care of my 89 year old father who is quite debilitated and unstable on his feet. He recently suffered yet another fall which necessitated an MRI. The exam was scheduled for 11:15 last Friday. My Dad and I registered at about 10:40 and Chris Draper brought us back at 10:50. He treated my father with total respect and took the time to raise his voice to talk to him instead of just me, as my Dad is very hard of hearing.

After the MRI Chris was helping us out of his department (Dad in his wheelchair with the oxygen tank in tow) and I realized I had misplaced my purse. So when I started back to retrieve it Chris got my dad totally settled in my vehicle and even buckled in. He then actually located the missing purse, then when Dr. Robinson walked by he showed him the MRI. We are so lucky to have such great caregivers at Gila Regional. Respectfully Submitted.

I would like to thank Marisol, Carol, and the tech named Marissa for the excellent and professional care I received on Tuesday Jan. 27, 2009.  I had a reaction to the CT contrast. The care was immediate and excellent.  The physician was attentive, but the nurse and techs were awesome.  Who needs an emergency room, when you have the best. Aside from a bad migraine, I did well. Thank You.

Dear  nursing staff, tech staff, respiratory staff, vampires, housekeeping and whomever I received care from:
Thanks to the many of you for all the much needed care during my visit. If I hadn't been so sick, I would have thought I was in a resort spa! So many of you went out of your way to be concerned and truthfully, that helps a person heal. My kitties and dog were so happy I came home and now of course they won’t let me out of their sight! Thanks again.

Dear Gila Regional Caregivers,
I just wanted to tell you that we work for a great hospital. My wife had a endoscopic surgery done yesterday. Looking from the outside in, our fellow caregivers are great. It was a wonderful experience. we were treated with great care and compassion. The team all the way from registration, pre-op, anesthesia, surgery, and recovery did a great job. It make me proud to work here with these individuals.

Dear Gila Regional Caregivers,

During my hospital stay, the second day the young woman that cleaned my room gave me a card. After I returned home I received a thank you card signed by several of the employees. I thought both were very nice gestures. Tell them to keep up the good work.

Dear Gila Regional Caregivers,

Thanks to all who helped get Mom to one of the best neuron hospitals so quickly. Despite the size of her bleed, she is doing well. They cannot find the source of the bleed, so she hasn’t undergone surgery and we’re unsure of when she can come home. Thanks again for your excellent care and comforting words.
