About John
Dr. John Stanley is a board-certified Family Medicine physician with 25 years experience. He has spent the last 23 years providing a full range of exceptional family care for his patients here in Silver City. Dr. Stanley was born and raised in New Mexico and received his Bachelor of Science from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He attended the University of Texas Medical School, where he was inducted to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his Family Practice residency at John Peter Smith in Fort Worth, Texas and was voted Best Family Practice Resident by faculty for 1987-1990 class. Dr. Stanley is licensed in the State of New Mexico and Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
When Dr. Stanley is not at Gila Family Medicine, you can find him in our hospital caring for children and adults. In addition Dr. Stanley chairs the Medicine Department at Gila Regional Medical Center and serves as the Medical Director of the Cardiopulmonary and Respiratory Therapy Department at GRMC.

Dr. Stanley is also committed to building a highly-trained healthcare workforce for our region. He has served the Hidalgo Medical Services Family Medicine Residency Program as faculty since 2013 and has welcomed countless numbers of medical residents, medical students, physician assistants and nurse practitioners for rural training rotations here in Silver City.
Dr. Stanley's community service has extended to the Gospel Mission Free Clinic, Little League Football in Grant County, coaching multiple sports teams, including basketball for the 7th grade boys. Dr. Stanley enjoys volunteering medical services at sporting events, including local rodeos, the Tour of the Gila, Project Heart Start for Grant County and Relay for Life.
